RECENT PROJECTS

On this page, you will find some of our more recent projects. As you will see, our projects are diverse. From performing demolition work at the old Children's Hospital, to constructing the outdoor ice rink at Heinz Field, our members work hard each and every day to reshape this city and county. Our skills and training are put to the test in almost every aspect of building construction, repair, and maintenance, as we take pride in looking back at the jobs we've been involved in and saying to ourselves "I did this"!

STATE OFFICE BUILDING

Bristol is doing demo at the site of the former State office building downtown. Demolition, as well as adding a new floor, is being done to accommodate new condos in the building.

	Civic Arena Demolition Noralco is handling the demolition of the Civic Arena. Work has begun to clear out the interior of the building, and is now starting on removing the tiles on the exterior dome. Asbestos abatement is following, as the whole outer shell has asbestos sandwiched between the structure.

Noralco Construction is performing work at Mercy Hospital downtown.

HILL DISTRICT YMCA PROJECTS DISPLAYS DIVERSITY

This recent news article in the Currier talks about a project in the Hill District area of the city. General Contractor P.J. Dick worked with community leaders and minority sub-contractors to make sure it was a "community-based" project, one that was designed for, by, and employed members of the local community. Click on the snapshot to the left to read the article. Work has started on this project as well.

U2 CONCERT CONSTRUCTION

As many of you are aware, the rock band U2 performed at Heinz Field on Tuesday, July 26 2011. Erecting a mammoth stage, the band played to a sellout crowd. The Laborers were called to help set up and break down the stage afterward.

FISHER BODY

GOODWILL BUILDING

Noralco is performing demolition at the old Goodwill Building on the South Side.

	2011 WINTER CLASSIC AT HEINZ FIELD U.P.A. Production Services and BaAM Productions came to Pittsburgh employing as many as 72 members of Local #373. The purpose: to transform an NFL stadium into an NHL ice rink. The preparations, building, and dismantling for the January 1st game between our Penguins and the Washington Capitals took approximately 14 days. Work was being done around the clock and under strict guidelines and deadlines, all of which our members were able to meet and exceed.

CONSOL ENERGY CENTER - HOME OF THE PENGUINS

P.J. Dick, in a joint venture with Hunt Construction Group, were the construction managers on the new Consol Energy Center, which included a parking garage and hotel as well. The project was $225 million and employed up to 60+ plus Laborers. The Center was completed in time to start the Penguins 2010-2011 season, and has played host to numerous concerts and events. All of the union trades received many compliments on the work performed. Consol Energy Center is one of the top facilities in the country, and Local #373 is proud to have been a part of it!

CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL IN OAKLAND

The demolition of the former Children's Hospital in Oakland has begun. The structure is being brought down by Noralco Construction, employing several Local #373 members. A new Children's has been been constructed in Lawrenceville.

MANSIONS ON FIFTH - SHADYSIDE

Jendoco Construction was the general contractor at a project called the Mansions on Fifth in Shadyside. It was an "Erect Fund" job, using pension money from all the building trades. The use of our pension funds as an investment guarantees that all work is performed by union members working for union contractors.

MERCY HOSPITAL

Bristol Environmental employed several Local #373 members at Mercy Hospital. Bristol sub-contracted the demolition work from Rycon Construction.
