Demolition work at the old Nabisco Plant has begun. This is an " Erect Fund " project, which is a loan to the developer from our pension fund. At present, Noralco Corp. is doing the building demo and Bristol is doing the abatement. There are about 40 Local 373 members working on site. The old plant will be a combination commercial, residential and retail site when completed.
Concrete Preservation Systems is a contractor employing several Local 373 members performing reconstruction work on the parking garage at McKeesport Hospital.
The Mt. Nebo Point hotel and retail project was completed, with work being done on Target, Sportsman Warehouse, Wal Mart/Sam's Club, PNC Bank and a strip mall. The construction was approximately 98% union, with the following contractors: Perry Construction, Carl Taylor & Sons Concrete, M I Friday Masonry, Ram Acoustical and P.J. Dick Corp. There will be more retail stores and a hotel on this $50 million + project.
The Armstrong Cork and Bottle project in the "Strip District". The old buildings were converted to loft apartments mixed with commercial business. The work was done by Zax Environmental.
