MAP PROGRAM
The Membership Assistance Program(MAP) is a plan benefit available to all eligible plan participants of the Laborers' District Council of W. Pennsylvania Welfare Fund. The Fund recognizes that personal concerns both on and off the job can affect a worker's health and job performance. Left untreated, these problems can not only impact work performance, but may lead to higher accident rates, workers' compensation costs, and health care costs. Some of the problems MAP addresses are: substance abuse, family problems, financial/legal issues, and mental health. MAP seeks to help members by providing the following services:
- A voluntary, confidential counseling service designed to offer professional and confidential assistance with concerns that may arise from modern day living, including access to health care and medical treatment.
- Consultation and training for union representatives, employer/contractor supervisory personnel in techniques for cooperative labor-management handling of workplace performance or health concerns.
- Orientation and education sessions for workers and family members to promote the MAP's services and to help plan participants lead healthier lifestyles.
